The pen chest is designed to accomplish three key features to accommodate large format urushi & maki-e art pens, this pen chest can accommodate writing instruments as large as the Danitrio Genkai, Namiki Emperor, Tohma Kumataka 55, and Danitrio Yokozuna.  

With over a year of collaboration and designing, the end product is a unique pen chest that will fit all large format writing instruments, protect their finishes/artwork, and hold roughly 20 ink bottles in an attractively finished, solid Alderwood package (drawer bottoms are the only use of plywood in the construction).
